Units
- UNIT 01
Parts of speech
Every word in a sentence plays a role. Knowing the parts of speech makes every other grammar rule easier. - UNIT 02
Sentence structure
A complete sentence needs a subject and a verb and must express a complete thought. Fixing fragments and run-ons is one of the most tested skills. - UNIT 03
Agreement
Verbs must match their subjects in number, and pronouns must match the nouns they replace. - UNIT 04
Punctuation
Punctuation tells readers how to group ideas. Most tested rules involve commas, semicolons, colons and apostrophes. - UNIT 05
Commonly confused words
Many errors come from words that sound alike. A quick test for each pair fixes most mistakes. - UNIT 06
Modifiers, parallelism and verb tense
Clear sentences put modifiers next to what they describe, keep items in a series in the same form, and don't jump between tenses.
